Our Unity and Actions Have Moved Sharp on Wages, But We’re Not Done
After our SEIU-UHW rally at Sharp Corporate Headquarters and our first round of informational pickets, Sharp executives finally acknowledged that they have a broken pay system and we need higher wage scales. There’s a catch, though. Under Sharp execs’ proposal, half of our workforce would have to wait another two years before Sharp brings everyone up to the wage scales we deserve now. This means half of us would continue to make less money than our peers with the same credentials and with even less seniority. This is totally unacceptable!
Sharp Can Afford to Pay for Free Family Healthcare But Thinks We Don’t Deserve It
Despite reporting nearly $5 billion in net worth in 2022 and paying CEO Chris Howard $2.4 million, Sharp execs are claiming they can’t afford to pay the $8 million it would cost for us to have fully paid family healthcare coverage. One executive even dared to wonder out loud why one of our bargaining team members who can’t afford the expensive Sharp plan couldn’t just take her daughters to the local free clinic for care. UNACCEPTABLE.
We’re Still Far Apart on Other Key Issues
With our huge victories forming our union across Sharp Healthcare, Sharp executives don’t have the power to do whatever they want anymore. Ca se in point: Sharp wants to choose which union representative goes with us to meetings. No way!
We’ve made tremendous progress on reaching a strong contract, but we can win much more.
Winning a strong contract depends on how we show our strength and unity at each of our facilities, up to going on strike if we have to. It’s up to each of us to show Sharp we’re serious and we’re done waiting. Stand strong with our bargaining team and sign the pledge to win the contract we deserve at bit.ly/weareonesharp
